Default Burned me a scammer

So i was running a party through Cathedral of Flames (for 2k each) with my hero smiter.....

On the very last part (the boss before final boss, on the hill where you get boss key) some guy suicides after i get the key. He just runs in there and lets himself die. Then he says don't worry about ressing me, i'll just res when you guys leave..... He says this in very broken english, coupled with the fact that this means he is going to pay me in town *AFTER* i know this guy is a scammer.

Anyway, i was about to call it a night so i decided just to leave GW running in the backround on my comp while i slept. I did watch it for about 30 minutes and he hadn't left. He also came out and said basically that he can outwait me and as soon as i do leave, he's golden. Anyway, i came back this afternoon and he was gone.

I win.

Pwned.

Interesting.

Had someone who wouldn't pay me at the last room some months ago, they tried aggroing the nearby skeleton mobs and wiping us - didn't work.

I refused to continue and met the rest of my team back up and re-ran them, got some tips from that too.

Dimento, for all the lazy-malice in that story, I am highly amused. No one can out wait the sleeper!

Good to know the scammers are being player-dealt with in this way (better than trying to compile a list).

Well, he stayed dead in that room because i was the only one alive. Only way for him to res and get the chest was for me to either leave, or die.... so i just sat there for about 12 hours while i slept/watched the new indiana jones flick, hehehe.

Yea, that's how i look at it too, though i'm pretty sure he was on there for a few hours at least. From the sound of it he was planning on waiting me out and was pretty convinced he could. Whatever part of the world he was in, it probably wasn't sleeping time yet though

Considering you make 1.5k from the reward, and a MINIMUM of 500g from all the treasure..........it's pretty much free for the people being run, plus they get the end chest items and pretty decent drops.

The funniest part is, the scammer was such a moron he didn't just leave and go scam about 10 more people in the time he was waiting for you to leave.

I know scammers are idiots but that's just some kind of peak for stupidity.

People scam because they can, and because there are virtually no repurcussions for their actions.

So anyone attempting to annoy a scammer gets a cookie from me.

Cookie for you, Dr Dimento.

I'm happy paying 2k if the smiter has a self heal. If I see "bring heals for smiter plz", or "Running CoF 2k - must have LoD and heals" I leave immediately, or rage at the person making the ad in local chat.

The fact that the CoF runners have the cheek to charge a fee for a run that they cannot complete without the assistance of the people they're running is utterly outrageous. If the smiter can't heal their self, they will die eventually along the course of the run. I've argued many times that if the smiter requires a heal the price of the run should be significantly reduced (1k instead of 2k), due to the fact that the people being run are directly contributing to the runs success. It's like a Droks runner asking for the people they're running to bring Charge and run alongside them so they don't die.

If I ever start doing these runs, I'll be making sure I/my smiter has a self heal, else I'll be doing the runs for free.

I use a hero, and it doesn't require heals. I actually advertise

"Running CoF HM, 2k, Bring LoD, no heals necessary"

My hero is a Mesmer, and it uses Signet of Illusions for self healing....which works great. I regularly run it solo just for the chest drops.

The only way i die is if one of the guys i'm running has an ego problem and takes aggro...... or the occasional time when my hero does exactly the opposite of what i tell it to do (as in i move it closer to me and it walks away, causing me to lose bonds) but that's few and far between.

I couldn't agree more with that.

I feel the exact same way about that. How hard is it to just make the smiter /w with healsig.

quest reward for the dungeon is 1.5k
you gotta be seriously dumb to just do this for the 500g that you'll easily win with hidden treasures
